How do I register for my exams?
Before sitting an exam at King’s, you must make sure to complete module registration at the beginning of every academic year. As long as you complete module registration correctly, you will be registered to sit exams for the following modules you are registered to take.
You can check your module registrations on Student Records by following the ‘View Module Registrations’ link.
Important to know: If you need to make any changes to your module registrations, please contact your department for further guidance.

Finding your candidate number
What is my candidate number & where can I find it?
Your candidate number is used for your exams and assessed coursework. Using candidate numbers ensures that your exam scripts and coursework are marked anonymously.
Your candidate number changes every academic year. For the 2024-25 academic year, your candidate number will begin with the letter AF followed by 5 numbers (e.g. AF12345).
You can find your candidate number on Student Records from early October, in the section called 'My Personal Details'. It will also appear on your personalised exam timetable (available on My Timetable).
Important to know:
- If you don’t have a candidate number shortly before the exam period, please log a case with us.
- For security and accuracy reasons, candidate numbers cannot be provided over the phone. As such, if the number is not appearing on your record, then it can only be provided to you via email.
- If you are resitting an assessment or have deferred your exams, you will need to use a new candidate number. Please log a case with us to request this.
What do I do if I’ve used the wrong candidate number?
Your candidate number changes every academic year. We know that sometimes students recall a number from a previous year and use this in error. If you use the wrong candidate number, then please contact your department/faculty as soon as possible to make them aware.
