NHS Mental health offers a lot of support, within clinics or your GP practice, and they enable you to Get urgent help for mental health if you are experiencing a mental health crisis.
If you need professional mental health support, it’s a good idea to make an appointment with your GP. They can assess you, provide a diagnosis and guide you to the appropriate support for your needs, and monitor you.
We recommend registering with a GP who is close by to your term-time address so you can easily go there for an appointment. If you haven’t done this yet, please refer to How can I register with a doctor and/or dentist?
If you’re new to the UK and you’re not familiar with the NHS, please refer to our information in Get to know the NHS.
Reaching out for help to specialist NHS services is particularly important for you if you are experiencing severe mental health problems (e.g. eating disorders, psychosis).
