Structure and Functions

The University governance structure and procedures  ensure transparent and effective decision-making, while meeting the university's values and external regulatory requirements.

Every programme at King's is assigned to an Assessment Board within its faculty. Assessment Boards include academic staff from the faculty and external examiners.

Assessment Boards are responsible for ensuring assessments are carried out fairly, impartially, and in line with the Academic Regulations and programme specifications.

You can find more information about the terms of reference, Membership/Quoracy, duties and responsibilities for each board on  information on Assessment Boards, Assessment Sub-Boards and External Examiners

External Examiners :

External examiners are an important part of our quality assurance and enhancement procedures. The College appoints external examiners who are suitably qualified and experienced in their relevant subject area to review, provide comments and recommendations on assessment awarding processes at King’s.

You can find more information about the duties and responsibilities of external examiners, including the Chief Examiner and Faculty Chief Examiner roles, in the Policy Hub on: Assessment Boards, External Examiners and Committee Procedures
