IoPPN: Student representation

You can share your views about your programme, facilities, the Faculty and King's through your student representatives, including School Representatives and Programme Representatives. 

We welcome your feedback and ideas for improving your programme, and we'll incorporate them into programme delivery wherever it's practical to do so. 

Early in the academic year, we'll ask for volunteers to become student representatives. This is an opportunity to represent your fellow students at regular Programme Committee meetings, where you can share feedback with the programme team. 

The Student Experience Team works closely with King's College London Students' Union (KCLSU) to recruit, elect and train academic representatives. 

We recognise that students understand the needs of other students better than anyone else. By representing your fellow students, you can help us improve teaching and learning across your programme. 

 As a student representative, you'll gather the views and opinions of your fellow students and share their feedback with lecturers and Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) staff. 

We want our programmes to work for every student, not just a particular group. Student representation plays an important role in helping us create an accessible and inclusive learning environment. 

Being a student representative requires commitment. You'll need to work collaboratively, gather feedback from your course mates, prepare reports, and represent your cohort at Programme Committee meetings throughout the academic year.

IoPPN 25 

At the IoPPN, we value student voice and to ensure transparency and clarity of roles and responsibilities we have formed the IoPPN 25. The IoPPN 25 will constitute of a diverse range of students, reflective of the IoPPN community. All 25 places will be recruited by an internal application process.  The IoPPN 25 is an opportunity for a group of students, reflective of the IoPPN community, to address and co-create student initiatives and opportunities that build community at the IoPPN. 

This position will enable you to work directly with staff, gain valuable professional skills and shape the IoPPN experience for yourself, and future generations. 

The IoPPN 25 will ensure that the best experience is provided to a diverse community of learners and make sure we hear all individual voices and experiences across the Faculty. 

Projects the IoPPN 25 have previously worked on include the YourIoPPN project, which brought all of the colourful staff and student portraits on the walls at the IoPPN to brighten up the space. Another project was about improving communication between staff and students through a variety of mediums which amounted in the YourIoPPN Instagram account, a new student newsletter, a student events calendar, and better training for student reps. We have also worked on the ‘Your IoPPN Self’ project, which aimed to bring more awareness to correct name pronunciation and pronoun usage, so that people at the IoPPN felt comfortable bringing their whole selves to the IoPPN.
