Attending a graduation ceremony is an important milestone, and most students choose to attend at the earliest opportunity after receiving their award.

King’s holds graduation ceremonies twice a year:

Summer ceremonies – held in July

Winter ceremonies – held in January

Which ceremony can I attend?

When will my award be confirmed?

This depends on your level of study and whether you complete reassessment.

Undergraduate students

Results are normally confirmed in July

If reassessment is required (Assessment Period 3), results are confirmed in September

In practice:

No reassessment → Summer graduation (July)

Reassessment → Winter graduation (January)

Postgraduate students

Results are normally confirmed in December

If reassessment is taken in Assessment Period 1, results are confirmed in March/April

If reassessment is taken in Assessment Period 2, timing is less certain:
- Results may not be confirmed in time for the summer ceremonies
- This depends on marking timelines and when your programme’s Assessment Sub-Board meets
- In many cases, students will instead attend winter graduation (January)

You’ll be advised at the point of reassessment or deferral notification how this affects your expected graduation timing.

In practice:

No reassessment → Winter graduation (January)

Reassessment in Period 1 → Summer graduation (July)

Reassessment in Period 2 → Usually winter graduation (January), but subject to confirmation
