If you lose your card, it’s important to report it immediately to Student Services or Security so that it can be deactivated.

Do I have to pay for my replacement ID card?
You can replace your ID card for free if there’s been a change to your programme or personal details, or if your ID card has been stolen. If your ID card has been stolen, you’ll be asked to provide a crime reference number.
Important to know: If you lose your ID card during your programme, only the first replacement is free. If you lose it again during the same programme, you’ll have to pay a £10 replacement fee online via the King's eStore before collecting your card.
How can I get a replacement ID card?
Please visit one of our service desks where we can check your student record and produce a replacement ID card while you wait.
When you collect your card, please bring some photographic ID (for example, your passport). You won’t be able collect your ID card unless your photo identification is verified.
Important to know: if you're replacing a damaged ID card, you'll be given a new one in exchange for the damaged card which will be securely stored until it's destroyed. Students are not allowed to keep hold of any deactivated ID cards.
How can I access campuses while I'm waiting for my replacement ID card?
When coming to campus, you’ll need to bring proof of your identity and enrolment with you to show campus security staff who'll provide you with a wristband. You could also show your ID card replacement booking confirmation.
What do I need to bring to collect my replacement ID card?
In addition to your proof of identity, you'll need your eStore receipt if applicable. We recommend that you save a copy of the email onto your phone for easy access.
Will my campus access be transferred from my old card to my new one?
Your new card will give you automatic access to all King’s libraries and most computer rooms.
If you could access restricted areas (such as labs or offices) by swiping your old card, then you’ll need to return to the security office in that building to have this encoded onto your new card. In most cases, you won’t need clearance forms to do this.
If you're staying in a King's residence and access that residence with your card, this access will automatically transfer to your new card.
Can someone collect my student ID card on my behalf?
No, you must collect your ID card yourself.
Can you post my ID card to my home address?
We can’t send your student ID card to your home address in the UK or overseas. You won’t need it until you arrive on campus. Please follow the guidance above to collect your replacement student ID card.
I need a replacement lanyard, where can I get one?
You can collect a replacement lanyard for your student ID card from the Student Services Frontline desk at our Strand, Guy’s and Denmark Hill campuses.
